How it all started.

I have to tell you how I got started with birds so we're going to go back in time. A long time ago I meet the coolest Umbrella Cockatoo named Fred, he was my first feathered love. He also had a friend named Beaker, what a sweetheart. The people who owned them became like family to me and so for 23 years I watched these two birds grow.

Now let's go back a year and a half. I started doing research on birds because I knew I wanted to add one to our family. I was looking for something bigger than a parakeet but not really big, I'm scared of big birds and wanted to work on overcoming my fear. Remember that for later. Anyway, we decided to go to a bird fair in Nashville for some hands on bird research. We had no intention of getting a bird so we went in the convertible. The first bird we met was an eight month old female Solomon Island Eclectus. She was a bigger bird than we were thinking about, but an absolute angel. We spent the day meeting other birds with her on my shoulder. You know we brought a bird (and a huge cage) home in that convertible. Thank goodness it wasn't raining. Her name is Sasha and she is our red headed little girl.
